Siluriformes (Catfish)
Scientific Classification
Class: Actinopterygii (Ray-finned Fish)
Order: Siluriformes (Catfishes)
Siluriformes are an incredibly diverse group of Catfish and represent over 10% of all living ray-finned fish species. Although there are over 3,100 different species of Catfish, the vast majority of these are freshwater rather than marine. Currently, only one marine catfish (Bucklandium diluvii) has been described from the Eocene, London Clay formation however I believe there might be one more much more research is required.
