Argilloberyx prestwichae is only represented by a single specimen but thankfully this has wonderful preservation. This wide mouthed fish has fine abrasive teeth on both upper and lower jaws and a distinctive top of skull.

Distinguishing Characteristics:
  • Significant narrowing of nasal section towards the front of the skull (1)
  • Fine abrasive teeth (similar to that seen in Labrophagus) (2)
  • Wide gape (3)
