Percostoma augustum
Scientific Classification
Class: Actinopterygii (Ray-finned Fish)
Order: Perciformes
Family: Serranidae
Genus: Percostoma
Species: augustum (Casier 1966)
The top of the skull of Percostoma augustum is very similar to that of Serranopsis however it is more laterally-compressed. There are two examples of this fish within the NHM, London but I have seen other partial examples in private collections also which I’ll look to feature here when photographed.
- Large and thick Supraoccipital crest (1)
- Possible sclerotic ring in orbit (2)
