Evolving in the Early Eocene, the London Clay showcases two early species within the group – that of Eothynnus salmoneus and Teratichthys antiquitatis.

 

This is an artistic reconstruction of a Eothynnus salmoneus swimming at speed through the Eocene seas 54 million years ago.
