Spariformes are an order of ray-finned fish which contain the Sea Breams & Porgies. 

 

Sea Breams and Porgies are characterised by their deep, oblong-shaped bodies. They have large heads with a steep slant to them.

 

These are predatory fish which generally feed on invertebrates on the sea floor.

 

These evolved during the Early Eocene with currently 4 species described from the London Clay.
