Fish Anatomy 101
The anatomy of bony fish can be somewhat complicated so below are a series of labelled illustrations to help you identify different bones and skull elements. Of course, prior to and during fossilisation, bones can be moved, lost, disarticulated and distorted and every species will have different shapes and sizes of each of these skeletal elements. This is purely to act as a simple guide and to help you reference some of the important bones which I might reference as characteristic under the species descriptions.
